Singapore Signs, Evil/Not Evil Syria, and Spare Change for a Bolivian Bathroom
January 4th, 2010 Posted in Cheap Asia Travel, Cheap Latin America Travel, Destination reports, Leffel projects, Perceptive TravelYes indeed, a new issue of Perceptive Travel is now posted. Marie Javins returns to the fold with a fun story about her trip to Bolivia as part of a group tour and there’s even a great custom illustration for it. Regular contributor Bruce Northam ignores the State Department warnings to hit part of the Axis of Evil—Syria. Joel Carillet takes a spin around Singapore, documenting the signs that keep everyone in line. We’ve also got detailed reviews of notable new world music from Laurence Mitchell.
It’s had to believe that just 10 years ago I was partying like it was 1999, celebrating the new millennium in Las Vegas. Childless, not a book author, not a blogger, not a webmaster. Maybe this decade wasn’t a complete bust after all.
It’s also hard to believe that it’s been four years since we put out our first issue of Perceptive Travel. Thanks to everyone who has tuned in and read one of our travel stories there or checked out the book and world music reviews. Subscribe to the newsletter, stumble or tweet something you liked, tell a friend about it! As more travel magazines bite the dust, Perceptive Travel is one of the few online alternatives publishing stories with meat instead of just sugary top-10-list snacks. That may not be the path to massive traffic, but we hope the people who do read it like it.
See older travel stories in the Perceptive Travel archives.
Happy new year!
