The only reason I end up checking headlines abroad is because people back home think it matters, and I don't want to be too socially alienated from them when I get back. Otherwise I think it's healthier to not read the news. When I'm at home I read newspapers because I'm bored and I, myself, believe it matters for some reason. Usually you end up hearing about it if there’s political unrest in the region you’re traveling.
