A Look Inside Mexico’s Anthropological Museum
March 9th, 2009 Posted in Cheap Latin America Travel, Destination reports, Travel bargainsMexico City’s Museo Nacional de Anthropologia is a must if you are in the city and it ranks among the best national museums I’ve been to anywhere in the world. Like many great museums it’s almost too much to take in over one visit, but you can give parts of it a pass or breeze through some areas if it gets too overwhelming. In short, this museum displays the entire history of Mexico, including great artifacts from the Olmecs, Aztecs, Mayans, the Spanish colonialists, and more. What I hope is evident from these photos though is that the displays are really well done, with just the right lighting, and in a building that is a modernist work of art on its own. Admission to Mexico’s Anthropolocial Museum is 51 pesos, which makes this one of the world’s greatest museum bargains: with current exchange rates that’s US$3.64. You can hop a bus there from anywhere on Paseo de la Reforma for 3 pesos or take the metro to a stop nearby.
