Bargain destinations and the cheapest places to travel

The Cheapest Places to Travel

February 13th, 2009 Posted in Cheap Africa Travel, Cheap Asia Travel, Cheap Europe Travel, Cheap Latin America Travel, Cheap North America Travel, Travel books

Just a quick note that I got my stacks of books in from the publisher for the third edition of The World’s Cheapest Destinations, so those of you who contacted me about reviewing it will get it soon.

Anyone who would like to buy an autographed copy direct, do it now while I’m sitting on my butt in an office chair instead of when I’ve shipped off to Mexico for two weeks this summer. It’ll cost you a bit more than if you buy it from Amazon in tandem with another item (to get free shipping), but you’ll get a cool little Maya doll in your package, plus the fifth and tenth persons who order after today will also get a free Perceptive Travel t-shirt. What a deal!

And hey, if this book doesn’t save you at least 20 bucks next time you are trying to decide where to travel, then I give up. Send it back and I’ll refund your money.

Speaking of cheap places, there are some great airfare deals to South America right now…

I bought this book a couple months ago when it came out and just want to say…thanks! I am leaving on a trip around the world this summer and I think you saved me a couple grand. This really helped me figure out which places were really the most affordable.

“were safe pre-9/11, but dangerous now”

    Where—Pakistan? Iraq?

No, those aren’t in the book. For almost anywhere else that’s not a war zone, the world is no more dangerous now than it was eight years ago, despite what the 24-hour news channels highlight to get ratings. Plus you’re more likely to be a victim of crime in Italy or the U.S. than you are in most developing countries. America is #1 by a mile when it comes to deadly homicides, unfortunately.
