Book of the Year – Thanks!
December 27th, 2008 Posted in GeneralThanks to everyone who responded to my blatant campaigning at Planeta.com. Traveler’s Tool Kit: Mexico and Central America came out on top as book of the year in their guidebooks category.
This planning kit is not really a “guidebook” in the traditional sense of being filled with where to eat, sleep, and sightsee, but it will guide you on how to eat better, stay healthier, get the best deals, and find the perfect spots for you in these bargain destinations.
As we head into 2009, it’s important to note that no matter what is happening in the currency markets, these countries tend to trade in a narrow band against the U.S. dollar. Panama uses dollars, Belize never budges, and the others don’t fluctuate much. Mexico is the main exception, but lately it’s been to the upside anyway. When we put out this book the peso was at 10.6 to the dollar. Now it’s hanging around 13. Vamanos!
