Getting Around in Mexico

mexico busesTransitions Abroad’s website has long been one of the best resources out there for independent travelers and the editor has started putting out e-zines following a central theme in more of a magazine format. The new TA zine July issue has lots of great stuff, including something old and something new that I contributed.

The new one is a useful piece that answers the ongoing question about Getting Around in Mexico. There is (I hope) a good bit of solid information on Mexican budget airlines, the Mexican bus system, and how renting a car is really going to cost you. Transportation in Mexico is not the cheapest around, but it’s usually quite comfortable.

There are other great articles centered on Mexico and Central America, with a piece on getting to Guatemala from Mexico, Overland Travel in Central America, pieces on volunteering and working, plus a review of Joshua Berman’s new edition of Moon Handbooks Belize.

Hey Tim - We’re going to Central America this year and I’d love if we could travel by scooter/motorcycle. Do you know of any good resources for this? I think we should buy, as we’ll be on the road for a few months. Flying into Cancun and out of Bogota.

    Thanks!
