The Guardian Says I’m a Dancing Dad
September 18th, 2007 Posted in Leffel projects, Travel industry
I’ve been called worse I suppose. I just got tipped off that this Cheapest Destinations blog was featured in The Guardian again, this time in a battle of the blogs where I was up against Arthur Frommer. I feel like one of the guys in Wayne’s World saying to Alice Cooper, “I’m not worthy!”
That reference alone shows my age, but Arthur has quite a few years on me. Dancing Dad vs. Dancing Granddad really.
So here’s a newer reference than Wayne’s World. The Frommer contacts make me feel like I’m in a plot line from Curb Your Enthusiasm, but without annoying anyone. I’ve written for the magazine that still bears his name. Mr. Frommer was nice enough to write a blurb on the inside of my last book, Make Your Travel Dollars Worth a Fortune. That book was runner-up for travel guide of the year with the North American Travel Journalists Association, losing out to one by his daughter, Pauline Frommer. Yesterday, out of the blue, I get a phone call from a woman wanting to set up an interview with me for a radio show. I was thrilled because the voice on the other line was…Pauline Frommer! For the radio show she does with her dad. If only something really embarrassing would happen you could cue up the laugh track.

OMG, Tim, they’re complimentary but at the same time, make you sound absolutely ancient!
Well, WE know what’s wasted on the young….:)
Nice site re-design, by the way.
