Hot Rockin´Lava in Costa Rica
May 22nd, 2007 Posted in Cheap Latin America Travel, Destination reportsGreetings from Costa Rica. It´s May here, the beginning of “Green Season” as the tourism people insist on calling it. Rainy season in normal parlance. That´s been okay though, since everything is indeed lush and the rain helps clear the clouds over Arenal Volcano, thus this sweet view. Last night, from the Arenal Observatory Lodge, I could lie on my bed looking out the picture window as red-hot lava rocks rolled down the side. Really stunning way to fall asleep.
It´s pretty much as expensive as I expected here for a lot of things, but food isn´t too badly priced in the simpler places. Beer is not cheap (dammit) but rum is a good deal. More details on the way, but for now I´ve got some ziplining and cloudforest hiking to get to and I would be a real loser hanging around an Internet cafe all day…
