India Travel Insights

A while back I got interviewed for this site called India Travel Insights and it has a great collection of short discussions about the state of travel in India. There are some major changes going on in India that I’ve commented a bit about on this blog before. The IT side of their economy is booming, they’ve opened up foreign investment, and the Indian middle class is growing rapidly. They are building hotels like crazy, but still can’t keep up with demand, especially at the top end of the scale. (Even if you or your company is willing to spend $300 a night on a room, you still might have trouble finding one in Bombay or Bangalore—unreal.) And a crumbling infrastructure is getting even more overloaded.
A lot of the interviewees go into how all this is playing out. I’m in good company, including the guy who runs the traveler’s message board called India Mike. There aren’t many destinations where Lonely Planet’s Thorn Tree is not the most active message board out there, but this is one of them. If you have any questions of any kind about traveling in India, you can probably find the answer there.
